About Kaloosa

We are having a dispersal sale .... all of the horses must go! We have all ages of horses and foals available. Please contact us to see if we have any horses or ponies suited to you.

Kaloosa Stud is based in the Kamberg area of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. We are on a picturesque farm overlooking the Drakensberg. Our horses run in herds with space to naturally excercise, interact and graze. Our mares foal out in the fields and are watched carefully to ensure that the foal drinks sufficient colostrum. We handle to foals as soon after birth as possible, but do not interfere with the natural bonding of mare and foal.

At Kaloosa Stud we aim to produce versatile, athletic horses that can compete in any discipline, such as showing, dressage, show-jumping, eventing, endurance, or simply be friendly, intelligent, family hacks. We have also bred our Appaloosas to Warmbloods to produce lovely Spotted Sport Horses. Our primary focus is on temperament, and of course the added bonus of beautiful Appaloosa colour.

At Kaloosa Stud all initial training is done using natural horsemanship methods. We do not introduce the horse to a bit until he/she is going well, and listening to aids using just a halter.
